PopGoesTheArts Presents: Top 20 Favorite Songs Of 2017

Well, it's that time of the year!!

Yours truly may have just returned to the blogging scene after taking a bit of a breather, but that doesn't mean I was going to let this year end without at least one best of list.

While I was debating between doing a Top Albums list or a Top Songs one, I've decided to focus on the latter.

This year has been a huge year for music, and it was difficult to wrap this into just 20, but I've done it!!

And maybe you'll find a song in here that you haven't heard before that turns into an instant favorite.....that is if you like pop music!!

Here we go, in no particular order, are my favorite songs of 2017!

Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling

Cardi B - Bodak Yellow

STEPS - Scared Of The Dark

This was the easiest pick for this list. Steps' brand new album 'Tears On The Dancefloor' is our pop album of the year, and their comeback single 'Scared of the Dark' is absolute pop PERFECTION.

Dua Lipa - New Rules

Camila Cabello - Crying in the Club

Lorde - Supercut

Rita Ora - Anywhere

Who knew Miss Ora would give us one of the pop singles of the year?!

Allie X - Casanova

Aly & AJ - I Know

Kelly Clarkson - Would You Call That Love/Whole Lotta Woman

Well, here's the only double feature. Kelly's release of her new studio album 'Meaning Of Life' gave yours truly one of the best albums of the year. The Idol queen gave us the album she's been wanting to make since she won the returning competition show, and it's evident. Her vocals soar throughout, and these two tracks are our personal standouts.

Demi Lovato - Daddy Issues

Pink - I Am Here

I have to admit, that I'm not a huge fan of Pink's newest effort 'Beautiful Trauma', however there are some standout tracks including this one.

Leland - Mattress

Niall Horan - Slow Hands

Julia Michaels - Issues

Kesha - Let 'Em Talk

SZA - Love Galore

Little Mix & CNCO - Reggaeton Lento (Remix)

Fergie - Tension

Well, this is hard. Fergie finally returned to us and delivered her sophomore solo album 'Double Dutchess', but it seriously underwhelmed. Fortunately, one track was an explosive number for yours truly, and that was 'Tension'.

Miley Cyrus - Bad Mood

Confession: I didn't particularly enjoy Miley's journey into country/folk, so her album 'Younger Now' didn't exactly stay with me, except for one track. The moodiness, and vocals of 'Bad Mood' were nearly the only highlight.

WATCH: Britney Spears SLAYS Her Billboard Music Awards Medley!!

I haven't with me.

Britney Spears took the stage at tonight's Billboard Music Awards with a career-spanning medley, and girl didn't just bring it.....

Our favorite Louisiana girl brought the house down right out the gate, with a scorching performance that included 'Work Bitch', 'Womanizer' (THAT BREAKDOWN!!!),'I Love Rock N' Roll,  'Breathe On Me', 'Touch of my Hand', 'Slave 4 U' and of course, 'Toxic'.

What has to be mentioned is Brit's energy on stage. Her smile was back, she moved like the pro we all fell in love with, and it was FIRE from start to finish.

Madonna Delivers Brutal Truth During Billboard Honor

I've previously spoken out about this, but need to say more.

Madonna was honored by Billboard as Woman of the Year at last nights event, and when she took the stage....

She delivered a speech that EVERYONE needs to hear!!

Speaking out on the ageism, sexism, and controversy surrounding her legendary career, the Queen of Pop held nothing back.

Including some tears.

If this speech ever needed to be delivered, it was now.

Thank you Madonna.

Read her entire speech below:

"I stand before you as a doormat. Oh, I mean, as a female entertainer," Madonna said. "Thank you for acknowledging my ability to continue my career for 34 years in the face of blatant sexism and misogyny and constant bullying and relentless abuse."

Recalling her life as a teenager when she first moved to New York:

"People were dying of AIDS everywhere. It wasn’t safe to be gay, it wasn’t cool to be associated with the gay community," Madonna recalled. "It was …
