Best Of 2017: Tiffany Haddish "Girls Trip"

The fact that this performance is going pretty much unnoticed by nearly every single awards circuit is downright BLASPHEMY.

One of this years biggest movies at the box office was 'Girls Trip', starring Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and breakout star Tiffany Haddish.

While all 4 ladies deliver hilarious scenes, Haddish does something very different:

She goes for the jugular!!!

Not only does she deliver the funniest line deliveries we've ever heard in a film, she does it with so much fire, that you can't take your eyes off of her even when she's not speaking.

Even in scenes like a group fight, your eye goes back to Tiffany's character Dina. You rely on her to leave you with that last laugh.

Whether it be lunging at Mike Colter's Stewart Pierce with a broken wine bottle, or......

The Golden Globes/SAG Awards made the mistake not nominating Tiffany.....

Let's hope the Oscars don't make the same one.

Best Of 2017: Sasha Velour's Wig Reveal On 'RuPaul's Drag Race'

The time has come:

For PopGoesTheArts to give you all our picks for 2017!!!
With 'RuPaul's Drag Race' moving to VH1 for it's 9th season this year, the show was set onto a bigger scale than ever before. And while the season provided us with some gag-worthy moments (see Valentina's 'Greedy'), nothing could have prepared us for the finale.
For the first time, the final 4 would lip sync for the crown in a battle style. The first two would square off, with Ru declaring a winner, followed by the other 2, and then we would get the final showdown.
So, consider the entire fandom SHOOK when season front runner Shea Coulee had to step up to the plate against BFF Sasha Velour, while Peppermint took on Trinity Taylor.
Peppermint brought out a crazy reveal of her own, sending Trinity packing, but we were not ready for the brilliance that Sasha would bring:
The rose petals seen 'round the world!!

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' alum Sarah Michelle Gellar is receiving praise over social media, after sharing a very special moment via her Instagram stories.

The mother of two recently took her 8 year old daughter and 5 year old son to the mall, where she revealed her son Rocky wanted to get his nails painted.

And of course she obliged!!

Take a look at their matching manicures below:

PopGoesTheArts Presents: Top 20 Favorite Songs Of 2017

Well, it's that time of the year!!

Yours truly may have just returned to the blogging scene after taking a bit of a breather, but that doesn't mean I was going to let this year end without at least one best of list.

While I was debating between doing a Top Albums list or a Top Songs one, I've decided to focus on the latter.

This year has been a huge year for music, and it was difficult to wrap this into just 20, but I've done it!!

And maybe you'll find a song in here that you haven't heard before that turns into an instant favorite.....that is if you like pop music!!

Here we go, in no particular order, are my favorite songs of 2017!

Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling

Cardi B - Bodak Yellow

STEPS - Scared Of The Dark

This was the easiest pick for this list. Steps' brand new album 'Tears On The Dancefloor' is our pop album of the year, and their comeback single 'Scared of the Dark' is absolute pop PERFECTION.

Dua Lipa - New Rules

Camila Cabell…

Robin Roberts Throws Shade At Omarosa Following White House Exit: "Bye Felicia"

Oh you best believe I'm sharing this!!!!

During today's 'Good Morning America', anchor Michael Strahan sat down with ousted White House tenant Omarosa. It's being reported that the former 'Apprentice' star was fired by Chief of Staff General John Kelly. However, Omarosa says she has her own story to tell....

She told Michael:

“When I have a chance to tell my story, Michael, I have quite a story to tell,” Omarosa said. “As the only African-American woman in this White House, as a senior staff and assistant to the president, I have seen things that made me feel uncomfortable, that have upset me, that have affected me deeply and emotionally. That has affected my community and my people. And when I can tell my story, it is a profound story that I know the world will want to hear.”

Which Robin Roberts isn't really interested in hearing.

Following Strahan's interview with Omarosa, he re-joined anchors Roberts and George Stephanopoulos. Robin didn't ho…

Kristin Chenowth To Lead Musical Of 'Death Becomes Her

When I tell you all that I loud when I read this story......

Yeah. It happened in public. Got some stares.

This was live footage of me earlier:

That's right.

Tony/Golden Globe winner Kristin Chenoweth is slated to make her return to Broadway, with the stage adaptation of classic 1992 film 'Death Becomes Her'. The original film of course starred Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis.

Chenoweth will be taking on the character Madeline, made famous by Streep. There's no word yet who will be playing Helen (played originally by Hawn) or Ernest (played by Willis).

No creative team has been announced, nor has any production timeline.

Stay tuned!!

My Reaction To Golden Globe Nominations

It's that time of the year again:

The 75h Golden Globe Awards were announced yesterday, and as per every other year....

It was kind of bananas.

While most of the acting categories seemed to get things right (more on that shortly), there is quite a bit of backlash concerning the Best Director category.

The category went to all men:

Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri), Guillermo Del Toro (Shape of Water), Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk), Ridley Scott (All The Money in the World) and Steven Spielberg (The Post).

First off, we would argue that Jordan Peele should have been nominated for 'Get Out'. Hands down, that right there is a snub.

But what about Patty Jenkins for 'Wonder Woman'? Where's Great Gerwig for 'Lady Bird'? Where the HELL is Dee Rees for Netflix's 'Mudbound'??

Oh, that's right. They're all WOMEN.

Not a single woman was nominated for Best Director at this years Globes. What happens come …

Jimmy Kimmel Returns To Late Night......With A Very Special Guest!!

Jimmy Kimmel continues to use his platform for AMAZING things.....

And how freakin' adorable is Billy!?

Last week, Jimmy Kimmel took the week off to be with his family, while his son Billy underwent his 2nd open heart surgery. Chris Pratt, Tracee Ellis-Ross, Neil Patrick Harris and Melissa McCarthy filled in for the host while he was off.

Jimmy didn't waste any time going back to pushing for healthcare, only this time there was a tad bit of a distraction as we couldn't take our eyes off of Billy.

'Big Little Lies' Officially Returning For Season 2

And shockingly, yours truly isn't jumping up and down for joy.

I'll get to that.

HBO has announced that this years breakout hit 'Big Little Lies' starring Nicole Kidman & Reese Witherspoon, will be returning for a 2nd season.

At this years Emmy Awards, the show took home Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Lead Actress (Kidman), Outstanding Supporting Actor (Alexander Skarsgard), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Laura Dern) and Outstanding Directing (Jean-Marc Vallee).

As of right now, only Witherspoon and Kidman are confirmed to return, although reports are saying most of the cast will return as well.

Now, here comes my complaining.

This series was perfectly executed, featured stunning performances from everyone (okay, even Shailene Woodley was FINE),  and delivered an outstanding (at what we thought at the time) finale.

So.......why do we need to possibly ruin everything with a 2nd season?!

That's not to say that it will be awful, but when something is th…

PopGoesTheArts Is BACK!!!!

Did you miss me?

Well, yours truly knew he wasn't going to be able to stay away forever......

After just over 3 months, I've gotten the itch to start writing again.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be dipping my toes back into my blog and of course, continuing to express my undying love of Britney Spears.

Truthfully, these past few months have given me time to reflect on what I want to get out of writing this blog again. It's not about quantity of posts, but the quality of what I'm writing. I don't watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians, so why write about it?

I need to focus my blog on writing about the things I love. This will no longer be a stream of daily posts about anything and everything Hollywood. Instead, this will be focused on what I find interesting and love.

I mean, 'RuPaul's Drag Race' All Stars 3 is fast obviously I'll be writing about that. Awards season is in full swing, so of course that's going to be discu…
