Goodbye For Now: A Message From PopGoesTheArts

March 7 2011.

That day will forever stay with me, as it was the day that I started PopGoesTheArts with the intention of simply covering some of the topics that mattered to me.

Celebrity gossip, music, movies, BRITNEY JEAN SPEARS.

You know, the essentials.

And here we are now over 6 years later, with over 3 million all time page views, avid readers, and new friends, I cannot begin to detail the joy I've endured over the years, writing all of these articles, sharing my opinions and feelings on today's pop culture, and knowing that I've reached so many people.

This was always supposed to be an outlet for me to express myself and share with you my passion for this crazy world of entertainment. And it's been just that and I can't thank all of you enough.

The kind words and support I've received over the years have been extraordinary and I couldn't possibly even begin to put into words what it means to me.

Now to get down to the hard part.

As per the title, you guys know where this is heading:

PopGoesTheArts is going on hiatus for the time being.

I'm in need of a recharge. A reboot.

Is this the end of PopGoesTheArts?

Absolutely not, and don't even think you're getting rid of me that easily.

It's simply time for me to possibly branch out, see if there are other opportunities and explore those. There has never been a moment when I've begun writing an article, and simply stopped myself to say "Why are you doing this?". That's never been the issue. What I'm discovering is that I need to focus on WHAT I need to do to maybe change up the pace.

Could that mean when the day comes for PGTA to return, maybe its sole mission will be to irritate you all with the new music I am listening to, introducing you to new artists? Maybe it will be to convince you to go to the movies more often and take in what's incredible at the box office.

There's the option of settling back in front of my TV and reclaiming my time some of my favorite shows and recapping them for you. Or, maybe this entire page will be dedicated to the legendary Britney Spears.

Oh who am I kidding......

No matter WHAT I end up writing about, Britney will find her way in there somehow.

Until that day comes, just know that I've loved all of our time together and there will come a day that I will return with my brand of snark that you'll all come to know and love (and loathe sometimes).

Nothing could truly keep me away forever, and as the title reads, this is simply goodbye for now.

Not forever.

I haven't with me.

Britney Spears took the stage at tonight's Billboard Music Awards with a career-spanning medley, and girl didn't just bring it.....

Our favorite Louisiana girl brought the house down right out the gate, with a scorching performance that included 'Work Bitch', 'Womanizer' (THAT BREAKDOWN!!!),'I Love Rock N' Roll,  'Breathe On Me', 'Touch of my Hand', 'Slave 4 U' and of course, 'Toxic'.

What has to be mentioned is Brit's energy on stage. Her smile was back, she moved like the pro we all fell in love with, and it was FIRE from start to finish.

Madonna Delivers Brutal Truth During Billboard Honor

I've previously spoken out about this, but need to say more.

Madonna was honored by Billboard as Woman of the Year at last nights event, and when she took the stage....

She delivered a speech that EVERYONE needs to hear!!

Speaking out on the ageism, sexism, and controversy surrounding her legendary career, the Queen of Pop held nothing back.

Including some tears.

If this speech ever needed to be delivered, it was now.

Thank you Madonna.

Read her entire speech below:

"I stand before you as a doormat. Oh, I mean, as a female entertainer," Madonna said. "Thank you for acknowledging my ability to continue my career for 34 years in the face of blatant sexism and misogyny and constant bullying and relentless abuse."

Recalling her life as a teenager when she first moved to New York:

"People were dying of AIDS everywhere. It wasn’t safe to be gay, it wasn’t cool to be associated with the gay community," Madonna recalled. "It was …
