Maria Menounos Reveals She Had Surgery To Remove Benign Brain Tumor: Resigns From E! News


Thankfully she's okay.

E! News correspondent Maria Menounos has opened up in a big way, revealing that she underwent surgery last month to have a golf ball-sized benign tumor removed.

The tumor was discover in February, and was 99.9% removed back on June 8th in a 7 hour surgery.

The network also revealed today that Maria would be leaving after 3 years, saying in a statement that Maria will tackle her health struggles "with the same fierce dedication she is known for.”

Maria said about her departure from E! News: 

“I am so grateful for the past three years at E!, I had such an amazing time co-hosting with Jason Kennedy and working every day with the wonderful roster of talent on the show including producers, staff and crew,”
“It was such a special, good-hearted group and one I’ll always consider family. A special thank you to Frances Berwick and Adam Stotsky for all the support they have shown me through the years especially during these tough times. I will truly miss everyone and looking forward to this next chapter in my life.”
She broke the story to PEOPLE magazine.
