This....may have worked, but is anyone very happy that we got the legendary Anjelica Huston?
In an interview with Emmy winning director Barry Sonnenfeld, we've learned some casting choice that never came to be.
For example, for his 1991 'The Addams Family', the role Morticia Addams went to Oscar winner Anjelica Huston.
But none other than Cher was considered for the role!!
Executives actually wanted the Oscar winner ('Moonstruck') for the role, but Sonnenfeld and producer Scott Rudin wanted someone who "wasn't such a personality".
I think it was.
Enter Huston, and when Sonnenfeld was asked about the pick, he said:
“What was great about Raúl Juliá and Anjelica Huston and Christina Ricci is they’re not trying to be funny; they’re trying to be real to who those characters are, which allows the audience to find the comedy instead of us telling you where to find it,”
What do you guys think? Would Cher have made a great Morticia Addams.....or was it always Huston's role?
