Fox & NBC In Bidding War For 'American Idol' Revival

There is a lot of information to take in here, so let's dive in.

It's been rumored for months that 'American Idol' would be returning sooner than later, and we now have more information.

Fox and NBC are currently in a bidding war with Fremantle Media (which owns 'Idol') to bring the long running program back. Sources are saying a decision could be made this week.

NBC is looking to add the show to its lineup to balance 'The Voice'. According to sources, they feel airing two cycles of 'The Voice' per year is getting to be too much, and original coach/judge Adam Levine is said to want it down to 1 as well. This would allow the network to air one at a time.

Of course, with Fox, it would be returning home.

Fox and NBC are both on board to bring Ryan Seacrest in as host, but he may be the only one.

It's being said that Fox never gave up on the show, it just became too costly with whom they had attached. Ryan, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr were proving costly, and they needed to take a step back.

The revival would include a brand new panel of judges.
