K-Pop Girl Group 2NE1 Officially Call It Quits

At least we have CL's debut US solo album to look forward to.....

Is what I keep telling myself between convulsions of sobbing.

In news announced by their label today, K-pop girl group 2NE1 is officially no more.

*cries*

The news comes on the heels of the April announcement that member Minzy would be departing the group, while CL attempts to break into the US market with her solo material.

The statement reads:

“2NE1’s exclusive contract expired in May 2016, and with Minzy leaving 2NE1, we have come to the decision to officially disband after extensive discussion with the remaining members. For the past 7 years, 2NE1 was a representative group of YG. We, too, cannot express how upset and disappointed we are. However, we judge that it’ll be difficult to continue promoting. We decided that instead of looking forward to 2NE1’s unpredictable promotions, we should rather focus on the solo promotions of the members. We sincerely appreciate everyone who loved 2NE1 and their music. Meanwhile, in May, YG renewed the contract with CL and Dara. Unfortunately, we officially announce that Park Bom did not have a renewal.”

Now.....allow us to bask in one of their most epic performances, the surprise reunion from the Mnet Asian Music Awards last year.

RIP 2NE1

"People were dying of AIDS everywhere. It wasn’t safe to be gay, it wasn’t cool to be associated with the gay community," Madonna recalled. "It was …
